About the event leader

Liv Monck-Whipp did her BSc in Zoology at the University of Guelph, and Masters at Carleton University, studying bat communities in agricultural areas around Ottawa. Liv moved to Nova Scotia in 2024, however, prior to that she spent a significant amount of time in Norfolk County, as Conservation Biology Coordinator for Nature Conservancy of Canada, often working closely with Long Point Basin Land Trust. She has a wide range of experience in conservation – everything from surveying birds, turtles, and bats (of course!), to restoring wetland and grassland habitat, managing invasive species, and creating long-term stewardship plans. Liv's always had a fascination for these fantastic flying creatures and loves to share her insights into how we can better understand and protect them!
